Within the urban fabric nature serves to provide accent to architecture. In Splice, five natural beech trees transcend into brilliance through synthetic treatments. Each trunk bears a portion of a cast black plastic map of the neighborhood where this sculpture is located in Montreal.  Through extensive routing and casting, the plastic maps, which reproduce the form and texture of the trees, are spliced into carved sockets in the trees to further obscure the distinction between synthetic and natural.
