Nonument 1 recontextualizes a down-home rural scene into a monumental sculpture. Situated on the grounds of the Helen Day Art Center– an historic Greek revival building– what seems like a haphazard collection of pallets, firewood and worn farm appliances is actually meticulously hand-carved polystyrene sculptures treated with a faux-marble finish.  The piece rests on a plinth and appears massive, though the surface conceals the sculptures true nature as being fragile and light.
